Hundreds of passengers were evacuated from a Eurostar train after a smoke alarm was set off.

Police received a report at around 3pm yesterday of an alarm going off on a train travelling through the Channel Tunnel.

The Brussels to London train stopped at Ashford International Station and 450 passengers were evacuated as a precaution at around 3.40pm.

Another train was sent to collect passengers so they could continue their journey.

Officers from Kent Police and Kent Fire and Rescue Service were sent to deal with the incident.

Kent Police said no one was injured and no criminal offences are believed to have been committed.
