Trucker seriously hurt in M-way crash

A LORRY driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries this afternoon after a two-vehicle crash on the M20.

The man was trapped in his cab for some time following the incident on the London-bound carriageway near junction 2 at Wrotham Hill.

Two lorries were involved, a white Daf tipper and a white and black ERF box van.

A Kent Police spokesman said that it was not known whether the injuries to the driver were life-threatening.

The crash, the second one on this part of the M20 in just a few hours, happened just before 2.30pm. Kent Fire and Rescue Service, the South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Kent Air Ambulance were called to the scene.

The London-bound carriageway was closed between junctions 3 and 2 and London-bound was diverted along the M26 to the M25.

The police spokesman added: "The cause of the collision is being investigated."
