Two drivers injured in A21 pile-up

A lorry driver was cut free from the wreckage of a four-vehicle pile-up on the A21 today.

Police were called to the crash on the single lane southbound carriageway between Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells at 6.20am.

A white Ford Transit van, a white Citroen Berlingo van, a white Man articulated lorry and a black VW Golf were involved.

During the incident the Golf overturned and the driver of the flat bed was trapped in the vehicle.

He had to be cut free by firefighters.

Both drivers were taken to Kent and Sussex Hospital with what are described as minor injuries.

The road was closed in both directions while emergency services attended the incident but has now re-opened.

The A21 has re-opened following an earlier road traffic incident.

A spokeswoman for Kent Police said: "We would like to thank motorists for their patience at this busy time of day."
