VILLAGERS in Ash near Herne Bay are being urged to get out their cameras and take photographs around the parish.

The New Year invitation comes from Nigel Whitburn, chairman of the Ash Parish Action Plan Steering Group, who is hoping his plea will help ensure that everyone in the village takes part in developing its Community Plan.

He said: "We want to know what people like and what they don’t like about living in Ash.

"We are a very large parish and we want photographs from all over the area. So if Mercury readers live or work in Ash get out with your cameras over the next few months.

"Not just buildings, it could be clubs, events, walks, services, neighbours, wildlife. Anything about Ash.

"Take photos to the village post office in the Poparound (Londis), but make sure that they are labelled on the back as a like or a dislike as we can’t always tell. And don’t forget a name and contact details."

The results of the huge photo shoot will be on display in Ash Village Hall on Saturday, March 15, and Westmarsh Village Hall on Saturday, March 29.

Cllr Whitburn added: "We hope to produce our own Ash calendar with the best of the shots, but not until 2009!"

The Ash Parish Action Plan Steering Group has been set up at the request of Ash Parish Council to produce a vision of how Ash should develop in the coming years.

More details of the group and its activities can be found on the Ash Parish Council website.
