Woman escapes house blaze

A WOMAN fled her Kent home in the early hours of Sunday after a fire broke out in a fuse box.

She was woken by her smoke alarm at around 2am and got out of the house in Station Road, St Margaret’s, near Dover.

Crews from St Margaret’s and Dover were called to the blaze, which was contained to a fuse box in the kitchen.

A fire service spokesman said: "Thankfully the occupant was woken by a smoke alarm and crews were able to get to the scene quickly and prevent the fire causing damage to the rest of the property."
