Who has been in court in Kent recently?

This week we have news of a female flasher, thieves with a penchant for candles and those who chose to drive while drunk, on drugs or without insurance. They have all been up in court.

Shoplifter urinated in street

Mitchell Tate stole clothing worth £346 from a supermarket in St George’s Street, Canterbury. She also behaved in an indecent manner by exposing her genitalia and urinating in St George’s Street.

She also failed to surrender to bail at Thanet Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates sentenced the 45-year-old to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. She must also pay £170 costs and a £230 victim surcharge.

Assault suspect behind bars

Benjamin Mazorra, of King Street, Dover, assaulted a man in King Street.

Magistrates sentenced the 32-year-old to 16 weeks in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Man who broke into property avoids jail

Neil Joseph Jones, of no fixed address, broke into an address in St Luke’s Avenue, Ramsgate, with the intent to steal.

Magistrates sentenced the 39-year-old to 14 days in prison, suspended for 16 months. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Teen was caught with drugs and knife

Arthur Lieshi, of Church Road, Folkestone, had cannabis and a kitchen knife in his possession in Military Road, Canterbury.

Magistrates ordered the 19-year-old to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay a £100 fine, £170 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Sturry man attempted to take metal offcuts

Alfie Rossiter, of Heath Close, Sturry, attempted to steal sheet metal offcuts worth £4,900 and damaged a security fence worth £250 from a business in Tyler Way, Whitstable. He also had metal cutting shears in his possession, for use in connection with theft.

Magistrates sentenced the 25-year-old to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, and gave him a six month curfew to remain at an address in Cedar Road, Sturry, between 10pm and 6am daily. The curfew runs until 14 December 2017. He must also pay £250 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Ramsgate woman caught trespassing

Caroline Joanna Samantha Irani, of Clements Road, Ramsgate, trespassed at a hotel in Canterbury Road, Margate, and stole cash worth £800.

Magistrates sentenced the 43-year-old to 90 days in prison, suspended for 12 months. She must also pay £800 compensation.

Man took almost £60 worth of candles

James Alvin Greenall, of no fixed address, stole candles worth £59.97 from a shop in Gravel Walk, Canterbury, and t-shirts worth £49.95 from a shop in The Parade, Canterbury.

Magistrates sentenced the 40-year-old to 120 days in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Folkestone man sent to jail for multiple thefts

Christopher Richard Eyres, of Victoria Grove, Folkestone, stole a pair of shoes worth £24.99 from a shop in Bouverie Place Shopping Centre, Folkestone.

He also stole chicken worth £55 from a service station in Cheriton High Street, Folkestone, a perfume set worth £36.66 from a shop in Sandgate Road, Folkestone, and a bottle of aftershave worth £29.99 from a shop in College Walk, Margate.

Magistrates sentenced the 34-year-old to 120 days in prison. He must also pay £144 compensation and a £115 victim surcharge.

Man took beer and damaged window

Anson Audley Simms, of no fixed address, stole beer worth £32 from a shop in Tankerton Road, Whitstable, more beer worth £4.25 from a shop in Canterbury Road, Whitstable, and he damaged a window worth £300 at a restaurant in Horsebridge Road Whitstable, and a window worth £450 at an address in Sea Wall, Whitstable.

Magistrates sentenced the 36-year-old to 60 days in prison. He must also pay £750 compensation.

Driver disqualified for being over the limit

William Wesley Robotham, of Coronation Close, Broadstairs, drove a Mercedes CLK320 in Millmead Road, Margate, and gave a breath test of 65 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 59-year-old from driving for 18 months. He must also pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Ramsgate woman was drink-driving

Marioan Florian Dumitru, of Preston Road, Ramsgate, drove a Vauxhall Astra in High Street, St Lawrence, Ramsgate, otherwise than in accordance with a licence and with no insurance. He gave a breath test of 83 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 30-year-old from driving for 22 months. He must also pay a £583 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Philip Headech, of Hardres Street, Ramsgate, drove a Vauxhall Astra in Northdown Hill, Margate, and gave a breath test of 78 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 23-year-old from driving for 40 months. He must also pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Margate man given driving ban

Gary Harvey, of Ramsgate Road, Margate, drove a Citroen Berlingo in Nash Court Road, Margate, and gave a urine test of 192 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 107 milligrammes.

Magistrates banned the 56-year-old from driving for 20 months. He must also pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Prison for man for offences

Michael Edward Arnold, of Windmill Street, Rochester, trespassed at a shop in Cow Lane, Canterbury, and stole three lawnmowers, three bolt cutters, eight metric tool sets, four mechanical tool sets and a hoover worth £1,924.81.

He also drove a Peugeot 306 on the A249, Sittingbourne, while disqualified and with no insurance. He also had a quantity of cannabis in his possession.

Magistrates sentenced the 31-year-old to 126 days in prison and banned him from driving for 20 months and 3 days. He must also pay a £600 fine, £720 compensation and a £115 victim surcharge.

Serial thief behind bars

Terry Steven Thurling, of Arklow Square, Ramsgate, stole meat and chocolate worth £40 from a shop in Tothill Street, Minster, razor blades worth £12 from a shop in High Street, Ramsgate, gin worth £100 from a supermarket in Queen Street, Ramsgate, more gin worth £56 from the same supermarket and clothing worth £109 and assaulted a man at a garden centre in Montefiore Avenue, Ramsgate.

Magistrates sentenced the 35-year-old to 120 days in prison. He must also pay £367 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Ramsgate woman took whisky and champagne

Lauren Benham, of Brisbane Drive, Ramsgate, stole whisky and champagne worth £50 from a supermarket in Westwood Retail Park, Broadstairs, she also stole fragrances worth £138 from a shop in St George’s Street, Canterbury.

Magistrates sentenced the 29-year-old to 60 days in prison, suspended for 12 months, and gave her a two month curfew to remain at home between 8pm and 7am daily. The curfew runs until 19 August 2017. She must also pay £50 compensation and an £85 victim surcharge.

Car thief given prison time and ban

Tony Alan Straw, of Cheriton Road, Folkestone, took a Ford Ka without the owner’s consent and drove it in Connaught Road, Folkestone, while disqualified, with no insurance and gave a breath test of 42 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates sentenced the 33-year-old to 120 days in prison and banned him from driving for 40 months. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Steak shoplifter told he will go to jail

Richard Cole-Leggatt, of no fixed address, stole beef steaks worth an unknown amount from a shop in Grange Road, Ramsgate.

Magistrates sentenced the 35-year-old to 140 days in prison. He must also pay £40 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Man assaulted officers and failed to surrender to bail

Kamil Zdanski, of Beaufoy Terrace, Dover, assaulted a police officer in Biggin Street, Dover, and he failed to surrender to bail at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates sentenced the 28-year-old to six weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, and ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Prison for Folkestone resident charged with several offences

Jake Palmer, of Hill Road, Folkestone, used racially aggravated threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a woman at a hospital in Ethelbert Road, Canterbury. He also assaulted a police officer and had a Stanley knife in his possession in Pencester Road, Dover.

Magistrates sentenced the 21-year-old to 16 weeks in prison. He must also pay a £120 fine, £300 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Motorist banned

Teofil Alecu, of Ennerdale, Faversham, drove a Renault Scenic in Rhodaus Town, Canterbury, otherwise than in accordance with a licence, with no insurance and gave a breath test of 84 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 33-year-old from driving for 36 months. He must also pay a £400 fine, £85 costs and a £40 victim surcharge.

Sheerness man given community service

Kevin Michael Murphy, of Botany Close, Sheerness, used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a man at a pub in High Street, Sheerness, causing him to fear violence.

Magistrates sentenced the 49-year-old to 120 days in prison, suspended for 18 weeks, and ordered him to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Connor Murphy, of Botany Close, Sheerness, used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a man at a pub in High Street, Sheerness, causing him to fear violence.

Chatham resident sentenced over threatening behaviour at shop

John Henry Smith, of Durrell Gardens, Chatham, assaulted a man and used threatening or abusive words or behaviour at a shop in Magpie Hall Road, Chatham.

And he failed to surrender to bail at Medway Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates sentenced the 43-year-old to 14 days in prison. He must also pay a £100 fine, £75 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Swanscombe man ordered to do unpaid work

Lenny Jones, of Trebble Road, Swanscombe, drove a Mercedes in Old Sheppey Way, Sittingbourne, otherwise than in accordance with a licence and with no insurance. He gave a blood test of 80 microgrammes of benzoylecgonine per litre of blood and 65 microgrammes of cocaine per litre of blood. The threshold limits are 50 microgrammes and 10 microgrammes respectively.

Magistrates banned the 24-year-old from driving for 28 months and ordered him to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Courtney Partridge, of Goldcrest Drive, Chatham, drove a Mini Cooper in Corporation Street, Rochester, and gave a breath test of 88 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 20-year-old from driving for 18 months. She must also pay a £400 fine, £85 costs and a £40 victim surcharge.

Dartford driver given suspended sentence and curfew

Stacey Osborne, of Stonewood, Dartford, drove a Renault Clio in Nelson Road, Gillingham, otherwise than in accordance with a licence and with no insurance.

She also drove a Mercedes in Kirby Road, Dartford, while disqualified and with no insurance. She also failed to provide a specimen of blood for analysis.

Magistrates sentenced the 30-year-old to 120 days in prison, suspended for 18 months, banned her from driving for 24 months, and gave her a four month curfew to remain at home between 8pm and 6am daily. The curfew runs until 19 October 2017. She must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Damilola Shodiya, of Glover Close, Kemsley, drove a Kia Rio in Clifton Road, Gillingham, while disqualified and with no insurance.

Magistrates sentenced the 23-year-old to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, banned him from driving for 18 months and gave him a two month curfew to remain at home between 7pm and 7am daily. The curfew runs until 19 August 2017. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Fraudster had someone else's ID card

Vytautas Baltadyon, of Chandlers Mews, Greenhithe, had a Lithuanian driving licence and a Lithuanian ID card relating to someone else and a quantity of cannabis in his possession in Greenhithe.

Magistrates sentenced the 31-year-old to 56 days in prison, suspended for 18 months, and ordered him to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay a £200 fine, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Claire Gillham, of High Street, Chatham, had a black handled knife in her possession in Chatham High Street.

Magistrates sentenced the 18-year-old to six months in prison.

Wine thief told to pay £5 compensation and given jail term

Jack Harbour, of Broom Road, Sittingbourne, stole a bottle of wine worth £15 from a supermarket in Canterbury Road, Sittingbourne, assaulted a police officer in Richmond Street, Herne Bay, and stole a bottle of drink worth £5 from a supermarket in College Walk, Margate.

Magistrates sentenced the 27-year-old to 90 days in prison, suspended for two years. He must also pay £5 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Driver got behind the wheel while already disqualified

Daniel Edward Baldock, of Ordnance Street, Chatham, drove a Vauxhall Astra on the M2 at Medway Services, while disqualified and with no insurance.

Magistrates sentenced the 30-year-old to 87 days in prison and banned him from driving for 12 months. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Man in his 60s failed to give breath test

John Allen, of Church Street, Maidstone, failed to provide a specimen of breath for analysis in Maidstone.

Magistrates banned the 65-year-old from driving for 21 months and ordered him to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

James Robert Louis Monks, of The Orchard, Maidstone, drove a Mercedes C220 on the M20, Lenham, and gave a breath test of 111 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 37-year-old from driving for 24 months and ordered him to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

New Ash Green man has licence taken away

Andrew Steven Webb, of Ayelands, New Ash Green, drove a Peugeot 207 in London Road, Sevenoaks, and gave a blood test of 174 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrammes.

Magistrates banned the 54-year-old from driving for 20 months. He must also pay a £415 fine, £85 costs and a £41 victim surcharge.

Man drove a car in Detling while disqualified

Malcolm Christopher Robinson, of Redbank, Leybourne, drove a Subaru Legacy in Detling Hill, Maidstone, while disqualified and with no insurance.

He also drove a Subaru Legacy in Tower View, Kings Hill, while disqualified and with no insurance.

Magistrates sentenced the 57-year-old to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, and banned him from driving for 18 months. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Man sentenced to jail time

William Allen Richardson-Smith, of no fixed address, used racially aggravated threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a woman and assaulted two men at a fast food restaurant in Week Street, Maidstone. He also assaulted a police officer at a police station in Thames Way, Northfleet.

He also was drunk and disorderly in Brenchley Gardens, Maidstone.

Magistrates sentenced the 31-year-old to 174 days in prison. He must also pay £400 compensation and a £115 victim surcharge.

Staplehurst man give prison sentence

Gary Cross, of Headcorn Road, Staplehurst, used or threatening unlawful violence, damaged a door worth £600 and assaulted a man and two police officers at a bar in Middle Row, Maidstone.

Magistrates sentenced the 51-year-old to 126 days in prison. He must also pay £75 compensation.

Man banned after driving offence

Richard James Glozier, of Haste Hill Road, Boughton Monchelsea, drove a Nissan Micra in Green Road, Boughton Monchelsea, while unfit through drink. He also failed to stop the vehicle after a road accident where damage was caused to another vehicle and had a quantity of cannabis in his possession.

He also obstructed a police officer in Maidstone.

Magistrates banned the 48-year-old from driving for 22 months. He must also pay a £280 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge
