A young man has been taken to hospital this afternoon after fears he was going to jump from a bridge over the M20.

Kent Police were called to the Eureka Skyway footbridge, over the motorway at Ashford, at about midday.

A spokesman said there were fears for the safety of the man, said to have been on the wrong side of the railings.

Officers went to the scene and the young man was taken to the William Harvey Hospital, in Ashford.

The bridge opened last year between the Sainsbury's Bybook store and Eureka leisure park.
