A nursery group has raised money by holding a colourful Easter bonnet competition.

Minster Nursery Group held its annual Easter bonnet parade and coffee morning at Wards Hill Road, Minster, last Wednesday.

About 30 children took part, with bonnets they had made at home with their parents’ help.

Lynsey Dunn, deputy head at Minster Primary School, came along to judge the bonnet competition, and three-year-old Freddie Mills was the overall winner.

Soraya Perry, two, won best girl and Oliver Selfe, three, was best boy.

The group has a committee which organises fund raising events so they can purchase new toys, games and other equipment, and this year face painting, a cake sale and raffle raised £230.

Jeanette Roberts, chairman of the Minster Nursery Group committee, said: “The standard of Easter bonnets was absolutely amazing, I was really impressed.

“It was good fun and everyone enjoyed it.

“I would like to thank Lynsey Dunn for judging the competition, and Chrissie Mills and Victoria McManus on the committee for helping to organise the event.”
