Gillingham will be returning to their blue kit for next season.

The Priestfield side wore a red kit last season to mark the 100th anniversary of playing as Gillingham FC.

Gills’ red kit was expected to last just one season but chairman Paul Scally gave fans the option of retaining the shirt permanelty.

Season ticket holders were asked to vote, as were readers of kentonline, and all overwhelmingly chose to return to blue for the 2013/14 season.

A club statement said: “Thousands of fans registered their favourite choice and a return to a kit based on the club’s blue and white 2011/12 kit proved the clear winner, with almost half of the votes cast.”

Next season’s kit is in the shops now.
