Leon Camier finished seventh twice in the latest round of the FIM World Superbike Championships at Imola on Sunday.

The Ashford rider was hampered by “tyre chatter” which affected his power and performance at corners in both races and believes it cost him the chances of a top-three finish.

A frustrated Camier said: “There was nothing more I could do because I was pushing so hard and adapting my style to try and cope.

“When I didn’t have chatter, I was really fast and I could have caught the guys in front and challenged for the podium.

“On a positive note, though, we did a good job this weekend and without the problems we were strong but we need to try and come up with some better strategies that will help me put more power to the ground.

Camier and the FIXI Crescent Suzuki team have stayed in Italy for testing, ahead of a three-week gap before the championship heads to Russia
