Rye United and Crowborough Athletic win Football Association appeals and stay in Sussex County League

The newly-branded Southern Counties East League will run with 17 teams in the Premier Division next season.

Rye United and Crowborough Athletic were both moved across the non-league pyramid by the Football Association last month.

But they won their appeals at the FA on Wednesday afternoon and will continue to play their football in the Sussex County League for the 2013/14 season.

It leaves the Southern Counties East, formerly the Kent League, with 17 teams, including newly-promoted Ashford United and Phoenix Sports who are making the step up from the Kent Invicta League. They replace VCD Athletic and Erith & Belvedere, who have been promoted to the Ryman League Division 1 North.
