The extent of our recent good form was shown last Saturday when not even injuries to two influential players could halt our winning run.

Since the match against Millwall, we’ve shown our fighting spirit and the depth of our team. Andy Hughes, in particular, has come into the team and made a difference but it’s to the lads’ credit that even after he went off early on and Johnnie Jackson went off after an hour, we still emerged as winners.

Two of our substitutes, Danny Green and Jonathan Obika, played key roles with Greeny creating both of our goals in the 2-1 win and Beeks grabbing a last-minute winner for the second home match in a row.

There is a lot of character in the squad and we believe that we can win our final two games, at Middlesbrough this weekend and at home to Bristol City.

Our good run has probably come a bit too late for us to qualify for the play-offs and, five points behind with two games remaining, it might be just out of our reach.

Nevertheless, we’re going to try to win both games and see what happens because even if we miss out, that would give us a lot of momentum for the start of next season. Wolves have their own targets for the rest of the season – the main one being to get out of the bottom three.

They were desperate to get something from last Saturday’s game, especially after Huddersfield won in the early kick-off but we withstood their pressure quite well.

I was disappointed with their equaliser and probably should have got a dive off but ended up following the ball into the net but we reacted well. And while we’re looking upwards at the moment, it shouldn’t be forgotten that the win ensured that we will again be playing in the Championship next season.

That was our own main target at the start of the season and just as we did last season when we gained promotion from League 1, we’ve achieved our aim before the end of April.

Boro will be tough opponents on Saturday in our final away match, when we’ll be looking to maintaining our fine away form this season, and then it will be back to The Valley.
