There could be changes in Gillingham’s team at Crewe on Saturday.

Manager Martin Allen was furious at the side’s performance against Bradford last weekend and disappointed with certain players’ attitude on and off the field.

This week he implemented extra training, with double sessions and work on Wednesdays, when the players are usually off.

“I was disappointed,” said Allen. “In training the players had been superb, bright and bubbly and positive, sharp and tenacious but that’s not enough.

“That’s the preparation for the performance.

“Too many players had off-days and there are little things within the team that we practise, which we go over and the marking at set-plays, you have to say, has been shambolic.

“You have to keep doing it again and again... or change the personnel.

“We could make wholesale changes, that’s possible.”
