Tonbridge Angels v Ramsgate

Jim Ward and Tommy Warrilow will have to put aside their friendship on Saturday when their teams clash at the Longmead Stadium.

Warrilow’s Tonbridge side currently sit third in the Ryman League, Premier Division table while visitors Ramsgate are fighting against relegation.

Ward has already engineered one win over Tonbridge this season at Longmead, in the FA Trophy, and he’ll be out to cause another upset this weekend.

He said: “Tommy is one of my best friends in football and he’s got a good side there. That’s why they’re up there in the play-off positions.

“We’ve already beaten them in the Trophy but going there and trying to beat them again will be difficult but we know it’s possible.”

The Angels have won their last three matches and head into Saturday’s game on the back of a 1-0 win over Hastings.

The Tonbridge boss is refusing to underestimate Ramsgate and is full of praise for counterpart Jim Ward.

He said: “On paper they’ve got a good team and I’m expecting them to provide a real test.”

Simon Glover will serve the second of a three-match suspension while Anthony Storey is available after serving a one-match ban.

There is a 19 point gap between Tonbridge and Dover and Warrilow concedes it might be a gap too far.

“You have to take your hat off to Dover. They are 19 points clear of us and I can’t see them slipping up half a dozen times,” he said.
