Gillingham loan defender Michael Harriman endured a tough international outing on Monday night.

Harriman played 90 minutes for Republic of Ireland’s under-21 side as they went down 4-0 to Germany.

The European Championship qualifying defeat in Sligo saw Noel King’s Ireland side knocked off the top of the group by the victorious Germans.

Harriman is on loan with the Gills from QPR and has played six games since his switch to Priestfield.

Ireland are next in action against Romania on October 11. If selected, Harriman would miss Gillingham’s trip to Shrewsbury.
