Gillingham to host Kent Senior Cup final in May as draw for early rounds is revealed

The Kent Senior Cup will celebrate its 125th anniversary by playing the final at Gillingham's Priestfield stadium for the first time in 20 years.

Gills chairman Paul Scally said: "We’re delighted to host the 125th Kent Senior Cup final at Priestfield and happy to be able play a part in the history of this competition. We’ll do our utmost to make both the competing teams feel welcome and give the final the occasion it deserves.”

Gillingham have been handed an away tie against Erith & Belvedere in the first round with the winners travelling to Dover or Margate in the second round.

Kent Senior Cup holders Charlton will travel to Folkestone Invicta in the first round of this season’s competition.

The Addicks thrashed Tonbridge Angels 7-1 in the 2013 final and they are due to open their defence against Neil Cugley’s side at the Fullicks Stadium on September 3.

In the pick of the other first-round ties, Skrill Premier rivals Welling and Dartford will meet at Park View Road. Dover are at home to Margate, while Ebbsfleet entertain Tonbridge.

Kent Senior Trophy winners Tunbridge Wells travel to Kent League runners-up VCD in the second round.

Kent Senior Cup first round (September 3): Welling v Dartford, Erith & Belvedere v Gillingham, Dover v Margate, Herne Bay v Ramsgate, Chatham v Sittingbourne, Ebbsfleet v Tonbridge, Folkestone v Charlton.

Second round: VCD v Tunbridge Wells, Dover or Margate v Erith & Belvedere or Gillingham, Maidstone v Thamesmead, Cray v Bromley, Hythe v Faversham, Whitstable v Herne Bay or Ramsgate, Chatham or Sittingbourne v Ebbsfleet or Tonbridge, Welling or Dartford v Folkestone or Charlton.
