Kent golfers missed out on Open places at final qualifying on Tuesday.

The only local to finish under par was Kings Hill professional Benn Barham.

Rounds of 70 and 73 at Woburn gave Barham a one-under total of 143 and a share of 16th place in a field where the top three qualified.

Michael Lawrence (Sundridge Park) finished tied-61st with an 11-over total of 155.

Bearsted golfer Matt Ford made an early exit at Sunningdale ahead of his appearance at the French Open on Thursday.

He carded a three-over first-round score of 73 and was 19 after four holes of his second round when he withdrew.

Chart Hills amateur Mark Collins shared 16th place on six-over, having produced an impressive two-under second-round 68.

Max Brackley (Manston Golf Centre) was 44th on 14-over, Dartford's Daniel Byrne finished tied-45th on 15-over, while Chatham golfer Simon Head was tied-52nd on 17-over.

The Open takes place at Royal Liverpool later this month.
