Kent Senior Cup round-up

Whitstable Town are through to the Kent Senior Cup quarter-finals after new signing Craig Thompson scored to hand them a 1-0 win over local rivals Herne Bay.

But that was only part of the story at the Belmont, where the Oystermen had three players sent off in the closing stages.

James Morrish had already been dismissed when John Guest was shown a second yellow card. And Steve Hafner was then given his marching orders for violent conduct, although Town's eight men held on for the win.

Hythe Town thrashed Faversham Town 5-0 at Reachfields. Shaun Welford scored twice, with Josh Burchell, Taser Hassan and Lee Winfield also on target for Scott Porter's side.

Extra-time was required at the Gallagher Stadium, where Maidstone United played host to Thamesmead Town for the second time in a week.

Zac Attwood looked to have sent the home side through but Mead's Richard Stevens equalised in the 90th minute. However, Paul Booth struck twice in the additional period and Fabio Saraiva scored to rubber-stamp a 4-1 Stones win.

There were two goals each for Alex Osborn and Ben May as Ebbsfleet United beat Sittingbourne 6-1 at Woodstock Park.

Anthony Cook and Billy Bricknell scored the other Fleet goals, with Tom Loynes pulling one back for the Brickies.

Dover Athletic were 3-1 winners against Erith & Belvedere. Nathan Elder, Elliott Charles and Ricky Modeste found the back of the net at Crabble.

A last-minute goal from Thomas O'Connor handed Bromley a 3-2 win over Cray Wanderers.

Two goals from Cray's Tommy Whitnell turned the tie on its head after Danny Waldren had put Bromley in front, but Jacob Erskine levelled the tie at 2-2 before O'Connor's winner.

The only Kent club in league action were Ramsgate, who won 3-1 at Chipstead to go sixth in Ryman League Division 1 South.

All the goals were scored in the first half. James Everitt, from the penalty spot, Macauley Murray and Tom Chapman netted for the Rams after the home side had gone in front.
