Five Kent players have been named in the England Women’s Performance Squad for the 2013/14 winter schedule.

The 21-strong group announced on Tuesday afternoon includes Tammy Beaumont, Charlotte Edwards, Natasha Farrant, Lydia Greenway and Laura Marsh.

Edwards will captain a 14-player squad which will tour the West Indies later this month with Beaumont, Farrant and Greenway also in the party.

They will contest a four-match t2o tri-series with New Zealand and the hosts, whom they will also face in a three-match ODI series from October 29-November 3.

Marsh misses out on the trip as she recovers from injury suffered in the summer Ashes series against Australia.

The return Ashes tour Down Under is looming in January while the ICC World t20 competition will be held next March and April.

A 15-player Ashes squad will be named in December.

Head of England Women’s Cricket Clare Connor said: “With a few experienced players currently rehabilitating injuries sustained during the Ashes campaign, a number of young players will have the opportunity to play key roles for the side in what promises to be an exciting tour against the hosts West Indies and also New Zealand.”
