Charlie Lee and Adebayo Akinfenwa will return for Gillingham to face Crawley on Saturday.

Both were rested on Tuesday night for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy first round match against Leyton Orient.

Gills manager Martin Allen said: “Charlie Lee has done well recently but I rested him and he will be fit for Saturday.

“Everyone could see how hard Bayo (Akinfenwa) worked on Saturday (against Bristol City). He is on a run of scoring form so I rested him as well.”

Midfielder Amine Linganzi, however, remains a doubt.

Linganzi has made just two appearances for the Gills since signing in the summer. A hamstring injury has been coupled by a bout of tonsillitis.

“He can speak now,” said Allen. “His hamstring seems to be OK but he has lost a lot of weight and hopefully he will train again Thursday and then we will see how he is physically. Perhaps this weekend is probably too early.

“You have to remember we have 10 months, not two months. He has a lot of games to play and we might have to wait another week for him.”
