There was a host of Kent derbies on Bank Holiday Monday as part of a full Ryman League programme.

Scott Kinch scored the only goal of the game at Hartsdown Park as Margate beat Maidstone United 1-0 in the Premier Division.

Margate, who won 2-0 at Thamesmead 48 hours earlier, are up to fourth, while the Stones sit eighth. Jay Saunders’ side were held to a goalless draw by Lewes on Saturday.

Elsewhere in the division, Thamesmead picked up their first win of the season, 4-3 at Cray Wanderers. That result lifts Mead into 20th above Cray, whose fixture at Hampton & Richmond on Saturday was postponed.

Faversham Town are Kent highest-placed club in Division 1 South after a 2-1 win over local rivals Sittingbourne. The Lilywhites had Aaron Lacy sent off early in the game at Salters Lane but two Brendon Cass strikes earned them the points and they sit seventh.

There was nothing to separate Folkestone Invicta and Hythe Town, who played out a 1-1 draw. Johan Ter Horst put Invicta ahead before Shaun Welford levelled for Hythe.

James Everitt gave Ramsgate the lead from the penalty spot at Hastings but the Thanet outfit slipped to a 3-1 defeat.

Whitstable Town had Laurence Harvey sent off just before half-time in their local derby against Herne Bay at The Belmont, but the game finished 0-0.

Saturday’s games saw Sittingbourne beat Whitstable 1-0 to claim their first win of the season, while Ramsgate won 2-1 at home to Folkestone. Herne Bay drew 1-1 with Faversham and Hythe were beaten 2-1 at home by Hastings.

VCD Athletic thrashed local rivals Erith & Belvedere 6-2 in Division 1 North, with Nick Reeves scoring twice. That leaves VCD second after their game at Thurrock on Saturday was abandoned.

It was a good weekend for Chatham Town, who followed up Saturday’s 4-1 win over the Deres with a 3-1 home victory against Tilbury. Austin Gacheru and Kieran McCann were on target for Kevin Watson’s side, who now sit ninth.
