Saturday's FA Cup and Ryman League round-up

Tonbridge Angels made light work of Kent rivals Herne Bay, firing six goals without reply at Longmead on Saturday to ease through the FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round.

Billy Medlock helped himself to a hat-trick against visitors who play a tier below Angels in the Ryman League, with the hosts making their passage into Monday’s draw safe before half-time.

Medlock struck after 17 and 27 minutes to set Tonbridge on their way before Harrison Tweddle made it three six minutes before the break.

Medlock completed his treble eight minutes into the second half while Tommy Whitnell added a fifth on 65 minutes and Alex Teniola added a stoppage-time sixth.

Angels were not however the day’s biggest scorers as Maidstone hit 10 against Littlehampton, while their Ryman League Premier Division promotion rivals Margate were held to a goalless draw at Folkestone Invicta.

Faversham Town produced one of the results of the day as they stunned higher-division Leatherhead with a late-winner on the road.

After just two minutes Dave Botterill put the Lilywhites ahead on the ground where he scored a league winner two seasons ago.

The amibitious Tanners, promoted to Ryman League Premier Division last season, levelled shortly before the half-hour through Vasieleious Karagiannis, only for Jack Harris, on loan from Maidstone, to fire the winner 10 minutes from time to send Town into the next round and make it three wins at Fetcham Grove in as many years.

Sam Conlon fired a hat-trick as Hythe Town stunned Kent rivals Whitstable Town 4-0 to reach the next round.

Michael Yianni set the hosts on their way at Reachfields after 13 minutes before Conlon took over.

He made it 2-0 on 34 minutes and made the game safe 13 minutes from time before completing his treble on 83 minutes.

VCD Athletic ousted Hampton & Richmond Borough in thrilling fashion by the odd goal in five.

James Duckworth put the Vickers ahead before the break and added a second on 51 minutes, only for the visitors to hit back with two in the next three minutes to level it.

Lea Dawson eventually snatched the crucial fifth goal 12 minutes from time to send the hosts through and secure the £3,000 of prize money on offer to the winners.

Ramsgate allowed an early lead to slip to a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Raynes Park Vale at Southwood.

Connor Heffernan put the Rams on the right path after just three minutes but Simon Moore levelled on 19 minutes and a penalty from Mark Walters nine minutes before the break proved to be the winner.

Cray Wanderers suffered a heartbreaking exit, losing 2-1 at home to 10-man Tooting & Mitcham in the final minute.

Dmitri Larin’s 81st-minute goal cancelled out the visitors’ first-half opener, only for Tinash Nkoma to win it in the dying seconds, with David Graves seeing red in the melee which followed.

Southern Counties East League side Greenwich Borough progressed courtesy of a 1-0 home win over Chessington Hook United.

Chatham began life without Ade Yusuff by coming from behind to win 2-1 at Burnham Ramblers in Ryman League Division 1 North on Saturday afternoon.

After losing their frontman to Dagenham & Redbridge on Friday, Chats slipped a goal behind just 16 minutes in, courtesy of Liam Burgess.

The lead lasted until shortly before the hour when Corey Holder fired in the leveller and Austin Gacheru ensured a happy trip back to Kent with the winner eight minutes from time.
