Gillingham completed their second signing in the space of a few hours on Thursday by capturing former Sunderland defender John Egan on a two-year deal.
The former Republic of Ireland under-21 defender to moves to Priestfield on a free transfer following his release by the Wearsiders at the end of last season.
Egan never made a first team appearance while at the North East club, but had spells on loan at Crystal Palace, Sheffield United and Bradford City in 2012, before his stay with the latter was cut short by a broken leg.
He also made 15 appearances for Southend last season.
