Gillingham assistant manager John Schofield writes exclusively for the KM Group

The side Wolves put out last Saturday would be challenging at the top of the Championship, in my opinion.

In all honesty, there are probably six or seven clubs, the likes of Sheffield United, who can compete with them on a level playing field in League 1.

The rest of us need to be on top of our game and hope Wolves have an off day.

It was good to pit our wits against a side who were in the Premier League less than 18 months ago.

There was a big crowd and the more people there are, the harder it is to get your message on to the pitch. It doesn’t matter who you’re playing against – it hurts when you lose 4-0.

There’s the initial disappointment but then you start taking the positives out of the game. We kept going, had a few little passages and created chances.

We go again against Brentford at Priestfield on Saturday and have ideas on what we’re going to do.

It’s a big game because it’s the next game and, as long as we perform, it’s irrelevant what’s going on in the other dressing room.
