Kent Spitfires play their opening one-day game of the season at the St Lawrence Ground when they welcome Worcestershire Royals for a floodlit game on Wednesday afternoon.

Friday’s seven-wicket romp in Holland made it two wins from three games for Kent in Group A of the Yorkshire Bank 40 competition and they sit second in the fledgling standings.

The Royals come into the game off the back of a five-wicket defeat against early pacesetters Nottinghamshire Outlaws at New Road on Sunday, though all-rounder Gareth Andrew made a swashbuckling 62 not out from 34 balls.xHoadKOL

Spitfires skipper James Tredwell said: “We’d have probably taken two wins from three tough away games to start the competition but we’ll be looking to continue our good start and make it three from four if we can.

“Home games are important to us for a number of reasons, of course we want to perform on the field to get points, but we also want to win infront of our own fans to keep people coming back which would hopefully be good for the business off the field as well.”

Coach Jimmy Adams added: “There were plenty of positives to take from the three away games last week and hopefully we can continue to put points on the board. “

Ben Harmison could keep his place in the Kent side after impressing in Holland and the previous game at Notts, which Kent lost by seven wickets under the Duckworth-Lewis method.
