The Force is strong with Kent web firm

GForces - Tim Smith

A Kent web management firm is to create 50 jobs after being given the go-ahead for a new office extension.

GForces, based in Bearsted, near Maidstone, is to take on the new staff as part of a growth strategy and to maintain its leading position in the web sector.

It also plans to boost the number of students and other young people its takes on for work experience and placements.

The company is a major player in the automotive industry, creating websites for big-name dealerships.

The new Caring Lane extension, approved by Maidstone council, will increase the company’s headquarters to around 15,000 square feet and provide open-plan office, meeting and training rooms, staff bistro, shower facilities, and hi-tech digital media suite.

The firm intends to reduce extra traffic impact by encouraging cycling to work, car-sharing and flexible working hours. It has also promised landscaping using native plant species, and ecological features to support wildlife.

Managing director Giles Smith said: "Following a period of close cooperation and consultation with Maidstone Borough Council, we’re delighted that the planning panel has come to this decision. We can now immediately start construction of the extension and undertake the first phase of recruitment.

"We are delighted to be in a position to create a substantial number of new full-time jobs. These skilled roles will undoubtedly be of great value to the local job market, giving fantastic opportunities to the county’s most talented individuals."

He added: "We want to attract the brightest and the best, so these jobs will come with competitive salaries well above the county average, helping to further stimulate the local economy."

The Downsmail Newspaper is not exactly well-regarded for its insight or accurate editorial coverage.

In fact the claim of 85,000 readers is a lie in itself. I bet 95% of the papers end up in the bin without being read. I suspect the other 5% do get used as cat litter tray lining.

The Downs Mail is the worst newspaper I have ever read. it makes more convincing cat litter tray lining; thoroughly absorbent......

Anyway, good luck to G-Forces and I would not worry about the 6 people who actually read the Downs Mail.

I agree, the Downsmail is a pathetic excuse for a newspaper. The lot of them should be ashamed at their persecution of this company.

We need companies that are prepared to invest in the county and not drive them away because of childish jealousies.

The Downsmail is a load of rubbish if you ask me.

Did you read their double page spread on why they are not to be classed as Junk Mail? How can anyone take them seriously if they have to defend themselves in that context?

I have read a lot of criticism from the Downsmail about G-Forces and think it is very unprofessional of them. I think they have made themselves look like a bunch of amateurs.

Good luck to G-Forces for trying to create jobs in the worst recession since the 20's. Without companies like this the whole of the country would be in trouble.

Fantastic to see such a positive story in the local news about this company.

The Downsmail have been disgusting in the way in which they have treated this company. I bet they don't employ as many people or even pay them as well - perhaps this is the green eyed monster.

The Downsmail has lowered its standing in the community to the level of gutter press. I hope they issue an apology in due course.

It is wonderful to read that not all Kent businesses are reporting doom and gloom. Congratulations to what sounds like an inspiring company.
