Brachers team takes on TRYathlon challenge
Staff from Brachers are taking on the ultimate
TRYathlon challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support
(Kent).
Between them they will be swimming the distance of the
English Channel (21 miles), cycling the same distance as from
London to Olympia in Greece (1,424) and walking the same distance
as John O'Groats to Land's End (874).
The Maidstone-based law firm hopes to raise at least
£10,000 through the TRYathlon for Macmillan, its chosen Charity of
the Year. Managing partner John Sheath said: "Macmillan do a
fantastic job providing practical, medical and financial support as
well as pushing for improved specialist care for people affected by
cancer.
"In 2011 alone they gave £234,000 in financial grants to
people in Kent. We are really keen to support them in their
valuable work. Every penny raised will go directly to Macmillan as
the firm will be covering any costs associated with running the
TRYathlon. It's going to be tough but I have no doubt that we will
be able to achieve the target distances for each
discipline."
Moira Mitchell, Kent fundraising manager for Macmillan,
added: "We were delighted to hear that the staff at Brachers had
voted Macmillan as their Charity of the Year and that the
cornerstone of their fundraising effort will be the
TRYathlon.
"In Olympic year it's a great idea to get their staff
involved and working together. I wish them all the
best."
