Bedgebury concerts - give us your verdict

Mick Hucknall

Pop superstars Keane and Simply Red are coming to Kent this weekend for a pair of concerts at the scenic Bedgebury Pinetum, in Goudhurst

Keane's performance tonight is a homecoming concert - the band formed at Tonbridge School - and will promote their Night Train EP, released in May.

Simply Red's appearance on Saturday is part of the farewell tour announced by Mick Hucknall.

The concerts are being held at the Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest by the Forestry Commission.

Are you going on either night? Send us your pictures and reviews to messengernews@thekmgroup.co.uk or post your comments below.

Went to see Keane on Fri 11th -absolutely excellent concert & Venue! Bands came on as advertised at 7pm, Keane straight on at 9pm at advertised! Venue was excellently organised, we got dropped off & picked up no problem. Just simply an excellent night, an excellent venue & an excellent band!! Would recommend anyone going to Bedgebury to see a concert.

Went to see Simply Red on the Sunday with husband and friends.
Gig was enjoyable but a little disappointed that Simply Red kept the crowd waiting for about an hour after the support had finished. We suspect that Hucknall was back stage enjoying the England v USA game-then only came on stage for 1 1/2 hours-Would have liked to see him on stage for a big longer as we have all been fans since the 1980's.

Was at the keane concert on friday evening, venue was excellent not jammed in like sardines, a blinding atmosphere, support groups were exceptional but keane were brilliant Tom chaplin has not lost it at all and is well back on form. they mixed the old ones that we love with new tunes which went down as well as the likes of Bedshaped etc.

The only downside was trying to get out of the car park after the concert, it was a free for all. A re-run of the 'gunball rally' The event organisers should really get it sorted as everyone seemed to be left to their own devices. i only saw one marshall in the bedgebury darkness who seemed detemined on blocking a secondary exit from the venue, which caused further un-necessary frustration to concert
    go-ers.
Apart from that minor problem it was a great evening. Well Done Keane

Brilliant ... saw Simply Red at Leeds Castle but too big and too far away. Bedgebury was superb, nice and small. We did not take seats, just a blanket and there was a special area near the front of the stage for those with no chairs. Really close to stage. Everyone did stand up with Simply Red came on, but no crushing, no pushing, plenty of space. Really good to see their faces clearly whilst they sung. Support group Jay and the Boys were very good and they came down into the audience after their show to speak to people and have their pictures taken - nice touch. Only downer was the time it took us to get out of the car park, but then there were lots of people, so not unexpected.

Been to several Bedgebury gigs and Simply Red was the best yet. The sound quality and Mick Hucknall's voice were amazing. Got the Albums but this was the first time I had seen them live. Superb! Yes, we had to queue but you put up with it at such a lovely venue.
Simply Red came on stage at the allotted time and with such excellent sound you did not need to be up close and personal. I did wander towards the front several times where I got a reasonable view without upsetting anyone. All in all a tremendous evening. Thankyou Simply Red and the Forestry Commission.

Really dissapointed. very badly organised. queued for an eternity to get in despite getting there early. lovely venue but too small for amount of people. One gate in for huge crowd which meant massive queues. Got seated but could hardly see the stage. After support band finished, waited about an hour for Mick Hucknall. Everyone stood up,couldnt see a thing, so we left. Really really sad. waited months to see them.
