    Separated at birth

This story says it all about the need to ensure that the maternity services at Maidstone are NOT transferred to Pembury. Just imagine what will happen if the Maidstone unit is closed down. It seems that Pembury cannot cope now never mind with all the extra births if Maidstone closes. What makes matters worse is the case of our daughter-in-law's sister who lives in west London. A few months ago she went into labour several weeks early and the nearest hospital with a free intensive care cot was Pembury. What about all the hospitals in bewteen? What will happen if Maidstone closes and there is a repeat of the above? It does not inspire confidence.
