Businesses and homes in Maidstone town centre were without power
due to a fault with an underground cable today.
At just after noon, 1,201
customers in the Staceys Street area of the town lost power
due to the fault with the high-voltage cable.
Engineers from UK Power Networks
were able to restore power to all but 22 customers
within only about 10 minutes.
Supplies to the rest were
restored by just after 4pm.
A spokesman said: "We appreciate
how difficult it can be to lose power, especially during the
winter, and would like to apologise to customers for the
inconvenience caused by this incident."
