Armed police swooped on a town centre street after reports
were made of a man carrying a gun.
Officers arrived in Union Street, Maidstone, at around 6pm
yesterday, and arrested 22-year-old Joel Mason.
The suspect, who lives nearby in Wheeler Street, was later
charged on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm with
intent to cause fear or violence.
He was due to appear at Maidstone Magistrates today.
