Top marks for Maidstone's architecture
Two developments in Maidstone have been named as among the
best examples of architecture in Kent.
The finalists of the Kent Design and Development Awards have been
announced, with Rosemary Gardens in Park Wood and Hill House in
Maidstone among the winners.
The awards, jointly organised and sponsored by DHA Planning, Kent
County Council and Ward Homes, celebrate the best new buildings and
developments across Kent over the past two years.
Rosemary Gardens, a development of 18 one- and two-bedroom
bungalows incorporating contemporary design and environmentally
friendly features, was named winner in the Major Residential
category, while Hill House won the Minor
Residential category.
Maidstone Museum's new East Wing was also Highly Commended in
the Community Public Buildings category.
KCC leader Paul Carter said: “Good design and quality
developments are essential if we are to continue to maximise on the
attractiveness and uniqueness of Kent. The calibre of entries was
extremely high this year. The quality and skill that went into
these buildings and developments is truly outstanding, and they all
deserve to be celebrated."
