Marking 25 years since the Great Storm
It is 25 years since some parts of the county were changed
by gale-force winds.
The Great Storm tore through the Kent on the night of
October 15, 1987.
To mark the anniversary tomorrow's Kent Messenger features a
free eight-page supplement looking back at the night and how the
county recovered.
One of the areas affected, as our before and after pictures
show, was Bearsted. In 1987, a 400-year-old Oak tree came crashing
down near the Royal Oak pub.
The supplement also features then and now pictures from Penenden
Heath, Ditton and Hildenborough and a round up of how the storm
played out in Maidstone, Malling and the Weald.
See Friday's Kent Messenger for your free
supplement.
