Video: Mural painted on Hawkenbury Inn to celebrate spring

A time-lapse video shows Marvellous Murals transforming the pub

Spring is in the air - and on the walls - at a countryside pub.

The Hawkenbury Inn, which sits between Headcorn and Staplehurst, has brushed away the chills of winter with a few coats of paint and a eye-catching design on its exterior.

Punters are used to the establishment’s seasonal decorating as for the last four years, Dean Tweedy of Marvellous Murals, based in Sittingbourne, has transformed its brickwork into various Christmas scenes.

The latest artwork is not the only change at the pub. Regulars have recently welcomed new landlady Alison Woodbridge and her son Daniel, who took over the lease from Lesley and Russell Sparkes.

The blossom trees and woodland creatures will be painted over in June but Mrs Woodbridge said she will continue the tradition.
