Image released of man wanted in connection with Morrisons bomb hoax
Police have released this CCTV image of a man they want to
speak to in connection with a supermarket bomb hoax.
Police said the suspicious package caused a "significant amount
of disruption" when it was reported on December 10 last year.
A phone call was made to Morrisons supermarket in Sutton Road,
Maidstone, at around midday - reporting a device had been left
inside the store.
The supermarket was evacuated and a suspicious package was
destroyed in a controlled explosion. The store was shut for
the rest of the day.
Police have now released this image, and are hoping the man will
come forward and shed more light on the incident.
Det Insp Lee Whitehead, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime
Directorate, said: “This hoax caused a significant amount of
disruption at the store during a very busy time of the year.
"It also caused unnecessary concern for both shoppers and
employees at the store and required a substantial amount of police
resources.
