Tandem

They're usually up for a challenge, so it's no surprise that soldiers at Invicta Park Barracks in Maidstone are going to go that extra mile for Comic Relief.

Around 160 servicemen and women based at the home of 36 Engineers in Maidstone will be taking it in turn to ride a circular tandem around the barracks through the night today (Thursday).

Teams will be riding the seven-seater bike, which belongs to the MOD, around the site for 24 hours, from noon today until noon tomorrow.

Capt Jonathan Farminer said: "We wanted to do something we could do on-site and we knew where we could get the bike. It will also be a little bit tricky and a challenge, and ultimately fun."

Sponsorship will just be collected from families who live on the barracks.
