Arrests for metal theft

Kent PoliceTwo men have been arrested and bailed on suspicion of stealing catalytic converters.

The duo were stopped by police in Wrotham, shortly before midnight on Saturday.

Both men, aged 20 and 22, were questioned on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and causing criminal damage.

They were bailed until Monday, April 1.

PC Ben Clatworthy said: “We would always encourage people to contact us if they see any suspicious behaviour around vehicles, or see a theft in progress.

"Due to the valuable platinum they contain, catalytic converters are a popular target for thieves, but we will be keeping up the pressure on them and regularly visit scrap yards to ensure they don’t inadvertently handle stolen goods.”
