Neighbours helped council bosses catch a woman who failed to clean up after her dog
Pooper snoopers helped council officials snare a messy offender.
Neighbours reported a Maidstone woman who repeatedly failed to clean up after her pooch.
After receiving the tip-off, a member of the council’s environmental enforcement team spotted Janet Shaw of Freshland Road not clearing after her pet.
When she was approached, she ran to a nearby flat. After several weeks of investigation she was spotted again and this time police helped the team get her details.
Magistrates who found her guilty of allowing her dog to foul a public place and not picking up after it, fined her £135, and ordered her to pay costs of £300 plus and a £20 surcharge. of £20.
Maidstone council’s cabinet member for the environment, Cllr Marion Ring (Con) said: “We know that there are more responsible dog owners than there are irresponsible dog owners.
“This success shows the value of communities taking a stand with the council and providing good information that enables officers to be in the right place at the right time.”
