Hollingbourne bowler Dan Pritchard takes eight wickets without conceding a run

Everything clicked perfectly for Maidstone web designer Dan
Pritchard in a once-in-a-lifetime bowling performance for
Hollingbourne on Saturday.
Remarkably, the 32-year-old took eight wickets without conceding
a single run from 31 balls as opponents Hunton Wanderers were
bowled out for just nine in a Kent Regional League 1A Central
game.
Pritchard (pictured), who had previously never taken more than
six wickets in a match, suggested that the combination of a drying
pitch and cloud cover at Hollingbourne's Pilgrims Way ground
provided the ideal conditions for his swing bowling.
He said: "It was a bit bizarre, I managed to stick the ball in
the right place and it started swinging when it needed to. It was
strange, though, I was getting more concerned about not conceding
any runs than taking wickets."
A run out by Pritchard himself ended his chance of equalling the
club record of nine wickets in an innings, much to the relief of
fellow player Paul Kelf who holds that honour.
The Hunton players stayed on at the ground for a couple of hours
after their 230-run defeat and Pritchard said: "Not many teams
would have done that. They were fantastic afterwards."
