Warren Whitely arrives on loan at Maidstone United from Chelmsford City to boost manager Jay Saunders' options

Maidstone United have
signed winger Warren Whitely on a month’s loan from Chelmsford City
with a view to a permanent transfer.
The 27-year-old is likely to
feature when Ryman League, Division 1 South leaders United take on
bottom side Walton Casuals at the Gallagher Stadium on
Saturday.
Boss Jay Saunders
(pictured) has brought in Whitely to increase his team’s
threat down the right flank.
He said: "Alex Flisher gets a
lot of balls in the box from the left but at times we’ve looked a
bit one-sided.
"No disrespect to Sam Bewick
or Kaiyne Woolery but I need more from the right and I’m hoping
Warren will offer that.
"We’ve taken him on loan but
if it works out, there could be something more
permanent.
"Kaiyne’s been superb but
he’s only 17 and is going to be inconsistent at that
age.
"Sam’s had a mixed start to
the season and hasn’t been able to get a run of form going after
serving a four-match ban and then breaking his nose."
In-form striker Ian Draycott
is set to be out for at least a fortnight after suffering an ankle
injury in United’s 3-2 Kent Senior Cup defeat by Tonbridge Angels
on Tuesday.
"We’ll miss him but we can’t
use it as an excuse on Saturday," said Saunders.
"We’re expected to beat the
bottom team and that’s what good sides do when they’re top of the
table."
