Weston-super-Mare 2 Tonbridge Angels 0

Chris Piper

Tonbridge Angels boss Tommy Warrilow saw red as his side slipped to 2-0 defeat at Weston-super-Mare on Saturday.

The visitors were incensed to see the referee rule out an effort from Chris Piper, pictured, which would have halved the deficit.

Ross Stearn had put the hosts ahead seven minutes before the break and only a couple of fine saves from keeper Lee Worgan before the interval denied them extending that lead.

George Purcell missed a good chance early in the second half and Weston added a crucial second goal, again scored by Stearn, after 68
minutes.

Tonbridge thought they had a lifeline back into the match when Piper headed home a Lee Browning cross with 12 minutes left.

Complaints from the home defenders to the officials eventually led to the referee disallowing the goal for offside and Warrilow was sent to the stands for his protests.

The defeat saw Angels slip to 13th in Blue Square Bet South.
