Pensioner's lucky escape as car flips over in Ashford

An elderly woman had a lucky escape when her car flipped and landed on its roof.

The car turned upside down when it went out of control and hit a garden wall at St Mary's Green, Kennington,.

Firefighters were called to the incident at 8am on Tuesday.

Ashford Fire Station crew manager Peter Harris said: "We had to get the victim out by removing the rear window while the car was still on its roof.

"Paramedics were there to help and she was taken out by a longboard."

The woman driver, aged about 70, had escaped with minor injuries.

Two fire engines, from the Ashford and Wye stations, were at the scene.
