Stour Centre swimming pool to reopen on Saturday

The leisure swimming pool at the Stour Centre is due to reopen on Saturday.

The pool, which has the flume rides and wave machine, has been closed since cracks were found in the tiling in March.

Children will be able to swim at the pool in Tannery Lane, Ashford for £1 between 9am and 4pm.

Under-16s can also enter into a draw to win one of five free passes to the pool for the remainder of the summer holidays.

Work to fix the cracked tiling in the pool, which has a wave machine and two 50-metre flumes, has now been completed.

Ashford Leisure Trust, which runs the £17 million centre on behalf of Ashford Borough Council, had previously expected it to be closed until mid August.

The pool closed following the discovery of cracks in the flooring. New tiles have been laid but the cement has to be kept moist for up to a week before the pool can be refilled.
