Knitter Heather's meerkat in line for Harry Hill prize

Knitter Heather Leavers with her meerkat Harry Hill lookalike

Fending off 10,000 fellow knitted characters, Harry Hill Meerkat - created by a former teacher - has made it to the not live final of the K-Factor.

Heather Leavers, of Grange Crescent, St Michael's, Tenterden, will discover whether her 11 inch meerkat has won the knitting competition at the recording of ITV show TV Burp on Thursday.

But for the rest of the nation we will have to wait until Saturday for the result.

Mrs Leavers, a former teacher at Benenden Primary School and Homewood School in Tenterden, has now done her hair, got a new outfit and is ready for the result.

She said: "I've never seen a TV programme being filmed before and up until the day I won't know whether or not my meerkat has won.

"He's up against stiff competition - the little duck has certainly captured a lot of hearts."

There is still chance to vote for Harry Hill Meerkat by visiting www.itv.com/tvburp
