This was the moment a traffic warden ticketed a bus today -
while it was parked in a bus stop.
Passers-by in Tenterden were amazed to see the Arriva 12 to
Headcorn receive a ticket while its driver walked 100 yards down
the High Street for a coffee.
Local resident Sue Ferguson captured the moment, outside the
Lemon Tree, on her camera-phone at 8.50am.
She said: "What next. The driver was really upset.
"I'm sure he thought he would get into trouble with his
employers."
It is believed the bus had been ticketed correctly
because it was in a clearway, not a normal bus stop. In a clearway
buses are only allowed to drop passengers off and pick them up, not
park.
Richard Harvey, who helped form the Tenterden Parking Action
Group last year, was also at the scene.
He said: "The driver returned, took one look at it and was
enraged. He rushed off down the road to find the warden."
Ashford Borough Council declined to comment for legal
reasons.
