Lorry driver Graham Baker cleared of sex offences

Maidstone crown court

Maidstone Crown Court, where Mr Baker's case was heard

A lorry driver has been cleared of a string of sex abuse offences, including one of raping a girl in his cab.

Graham Baker, 41, of Lower Denmark Road, Ashford, had denied five charges of sexual assault, two of assault by penetration, one of indecent assault on a male person and one of rape during his trial at Maidstone Crown Court.

Giving evidence the trucker maintained he had never behaved inappropriately with any of the alleged victims.

The court heard the offences dated back to 2006.

Prosecutor John Traversi said one victim alleged Mr Baker had fondled her breasts and touched her private parts before later raping her in his lorry.

Another alleged victim told police he was “utterly shocked” when Mr Baker put his hand on his genitals and said words to the effect of “mine’s bigger”.

The third alleged victim claimed Mr Baker rubbed her thigh and then tried to kiss her in his car.

Mr Baker was arrested earlier this year. “He said none of the events reported to the police had happened,” explained the prosecutor

“He said they were making it up and lying about him.”
