Fireman bitten by terrier he had rescued from cliffs at Capel
A dog saved in a cliff fall bit its rescuer.
The female black terrier, who had tumbled 75ft, nipped the hand
of the firefighter who retrieved it.
Folkestone Fire Station watch manager Mick Burgess: “One of our
crew had rescued the dog from a ledge and it nipped him as a
“But neither the dog nor the firefighter were hurt at all.”
The dog had fallen over the cliff at Old Dover Road,
Capel-le-Ferne, as it had chased a fox on Sunday.
The dog, walked by a couple, fell over the edge and skidded 25
metres until it landed on a ledge.
A crew from Folkestone was called out a 1.25pm along with a line
rescue unit from Deal. The bitten firefighter had abseiled down to
