Two more vehicles believed to have been used by ATM ram raiders
have been seized by police.
The cash machine was ripped from the wall of a
supermarket in Tenterden early yesterday.
A gang used a JCB digger stolen from a nearby cricket club
to attack the front of the Tesco store in Smallhythe Road.
The ATM was dumped unopened in the car park, pictured below, and
the digger was abandoned at the scene.
Now detectives have revealed they have also seized a red pick-up
Hilux truck found in Cranbrook Road and a green Daihatsu
car.
Three men are believed to have been involved in the theft, which
happened at around 2.25am.
The store was closed, but night staff working inside ran outside
and witnessed the raid.
DC Don Share, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate,
said: "The digger was stolen from the cricket club, which is
close the supermarket.
"The thieves appear to have driven it
up a bank and through a fence to get to the scene. In doing this
they have caused a large amount of damage.
"Some witnesses filmed parts of the incident on their mobile phones
and we are now examining this footage. If anyone has information
that may be useful to this enquiry, please contact Kent
Police."
Anyone with information is asked to phone Kent Police on 101,
giving reference 20-84, or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
