Teacher Kathryn Carson searches for mystery man 'Gareth' after Madness concert
A woman is seeking a mystery man from Ashford who
she met at a Madness concert.
Teacher Kathryn Carson, 59, was chatted up by a man she knows
only as Gareth when she went to the show at the 02 Arena
in London on Saturday, December 22. The missing man told
Kathryn that he is from Ashford and now she is trying to track him
Kathryn, from Canterbury, said: “I was there on my own and
ending up sitting next to a group of six men. Gareth actually
swapped seats with his friend so could sit next to me. He was all
Kathryn describes Gareth as quite a big build with dark straight
hair and in his mid 50s. “He looked like Paddington Bear”, she
explains. “At the end of the gig I had to dash to get my train. He
seemed quite put out actually that I left.”
In a weird twist of fate, Madness’s latest hit, ‘Never Knew your
Name’, practically descirbes the pair’s story. With lyrics such as:
‘I would have liked to have walked you home/ But you said you’d
catch the bus so I ended up alone. I never knew your name nor your
telephone number/Will I ever see you again? I wonder?'
She adds: “I believe he works as an engineer and has to leave
quite early to get to work from Ashford train station. I thought
about trying to meet him at the station but it just isn’t possible
with my job.”
