A pub is searching for Ashford’s
most unromantic man, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Over the next two weeks the manager
of The Pheasant, in Trinity Road on the Eureka Place business park,
is hoping to hear horror stories from the hard-done-by women of the
town.
Landlord Kelliecorr McDonald, 42,
is seeking tales of the unchivalrous behaviour of people’s partners
or attempts at romance gone wrong, with bonus points for lack of
effort and a blissful unawareness of what women want.
The winners of the competition will
be rewarded with a free evening at The Pheasant, including a
three-course meal and a bottle of bubbly – their partner’s presence
will be optional.
The lady will also receive a rose and a box of chocolates,
for sticking by their man through thick and thin.
About the campaign, the mother of
three said: “My partner is pretty anti Valentine’s Day, so I can
sympathise with the women out there, but we still seem to stick by
them.
“We want the competition to be fun.
We’re not looking for sob stories or anything too serious, but we’d
love to hear about the unromantic men of Ashford.
“Perhaps your partner has tried to
take you for a romantic meal at a fast-food burger bar, or has
turned up in their work gear. Maybe they’ve forgotten your birthday
or anniversary.
“Whatever the case, we’d love to
hear from you.”
The winner of the competition will
be chosen by Kellie and her assistant manager Dani Sprawson, and
will be announced in the Kentish Express on Thursday, February
7.
Entries must be received by the end
of Sunday, February 3.
To enter, write to Kentish
Express, 34-36 North Street, Ashford, TN24 8JR or email kentishexpress@thekmgroup.co.uk
